First of all, I’ve changed the architecture of both the Chat Enhancer and the Ultimate Titler quite substantially. This is in preparation for menu support, and for in-place update support. One of the results is that I’m using fewer scripts than I was which means that responsiveness should be better.

Next, I’m adding menu support so that everything you do with chat commands now will be doable with menu options (there will be a few exceptions to the “everything”).

Third, I am implementing an in-place update system. This will allow updates to be delivered and applied without the need to unlock or even remove either product. Update orbs will be automatically delivered when needed and will update everything that can be updated automatically.

Fourth, I may be changing the permissions on the products. Currently the only option is copy/notrans. I’m contemplating either changing that to nocopy/trans or adding nocopy/trans as an option. I haven’t figured out if this is necessary or even desirable yet.

Fifth, I will be rolling out a new database architecture (yes, I know I said I was at least once before). This is definitely in the pipeline and is necessary for new products I’m working on.

Finally I am creating a plugin system which will allow separately purchased plugins to be incorporated into the products. One example is a puppy sound plugin that will watch what is being said or emoted and when key words or phrases are seen will play the appropriate sound. Another possibility for it is to mask all speech so that all most will hear or see is barks, whines, etc. while anyone else with the plugin (including a separate translator HUD) will be able to understand what is being said. I’m shamelessly stealing the idea from someone else’s product. It’s the integration with the Chat Enhancer that I’d really like and the original developer of the other product did not express any interest in working together. I can imagine having different plugins for puppies, ponies, mer-people, etc. etc.

Each of these will likely roll out as a separate update (along with bug fixes of course). If I do change the permissions, I’ll be sure to roll out a final build of the copy-perm product, and will continue to support it with bug fixes. Regardless of which way I go (change perms or add a nocopy version as an alternative) I’ll send everyone out a nocopy version as well as the latest copy version.

The transition to the new database architecture may be a little painful but I’m going to do everything I can to mitigate that pain and will be available to anyone who needs assistance managing the transition. The first update will be going out just as soon as I can get it ready. It will also mark the re-introduction of the Ultimate Titler, I withdrew it when I realised that it just plain isn’t working right (memo to self, need to refund the people who’ve already bought one). It will also mark the first product release from DC Designs.

The recolor command says to pick a new random color for situations where the color it picked doesn’t look right.

I’m working on an owner-override, but need to re-organise a bit of code to make it work right. Also, multiline titles will come with the override command.
