Forum’s 3rd annual pony event is now done

What a week! There was the cross country race all week long, followed by dressage on Saturday and the Pretty Pony event on Sunday.

I haven’t spent that much time in tack non-stop in months. I had a blast. Maybe I should ask Miss deka to lock me in tack for a week at a time occasionally? There were more ponies at Forum than I’ve ever seen before. Actually, I was with more ponies in one place at one time than I’ve ever been. It really was a lot of fun. My first competition ever (and I’m itching for more now).

In the cross country race, I managed a 730 (seconds) which put me in 6th place. The winning time was 703 and try as I might I just couldn’t quite trim off those 27 seconds. More practice needed (oh darn, grin). The winning pony ran an excellent run from what I understand, absolutely flawless in the corners which is where the race was won and lost. She also won the top pony in the overall (more on that later). I did manage one exceptional run though it didn’t count. Lost Ferals has a cheetah avatar with speed boost and I just had to give it a try. I positively flew around the course! I passed to ponies who were already on the course like they were standing still. I’m a little chagrined because I guess I startled them some as I tore past. My time was 357 seconds! I’m hoping someone can make a movie of me running the course in cheetah form. If I’m able to get that I’ll link it here.

Dressage was next and though I again didn’t place in the top three I feel pretty good about my performance. Except when I ran over my trainer Marlene on the slalom (oops). Many of my friends thought I should have placed, but I’m satisfied with how I did. Maybe next time I compete. Miss deka was able to get online briefly (until her laptop melted down from the load of rendering nearly 60 people including a couple dozen ponies). I feel a little guilty, I hadn’t told her about the event because I knew her laptop would never be able to handle the load. On reflection, I should have said something if only so she could come on to watch me compete.

The Pretty Pony event on Sunday was hard fought, over a dozen ponies and we all looked great. From what I understand the judges really struggled with the scoring. Again, I didn’t place, but this time I really felt good about how I did. From what I understand, the difference between me placing and the pony who did place was down to equipment. Many of us were using tack from Morbid Studios (my favorite hooves are from there) and this counted against us slightly because our tack all looked very similar.

Finally, there was an award for Best In Show. Using some complicated spreadsheet wizardry, the judges came up with the top three ponies for the entire event. Just as they were announcing third place…. I crashed. ARGH! It took me several minutes of desperate attempts to get back in to discover that I crashed just at the moment they were announcing that it was me who took 3rd place!!! I received a beautiful cup and rosette which are now proudly displayed in my stall at home (I was given two copies of the cup actually, the second is now on display in my stall at FFF).

I’m really happy about how I did, and really proud to have done well for Miss deka. Hew new computer arrives soon and she’ll be online much more again once it does. Really looking forward to that. A couple of days ago she asked me what I would want to do first when she’s back online. My reply was that anything beyond kneeling at her feet, my leash in her hands, would be icing on a very sweet cake. Nah, I’m not looking forward to her being back regularly… only a lot (smile).

Building, planning, dreaming

Miss deka and I are preparing for a major change at home. We’re getting rid of the castle because frankly, it’s just too damned big. We’ve have a comfortable amount of stuff in it, and it feels empty. A good friend of Miss deka’s is building a house for us. I’ll be doing the scripts for the kennels and stables he’s including (fully locking and RLV enabled of course) and we’re making longer range plans as Miss gets ready to start some serious clothing design (again, all RLV enabled with scripting by your’s truly).

In the process of figuring all of this out, we’ve decided to set up a store area on a platform away from where the house will be. It’s going to simplify how we’re using the land and in time, Miss wants us to square off the parcel we’re on. At the moment it’s sort of shaped like the letter ‘b’. In order to get that land we’re going to need to add some tier to the group. I’m currently providing the tier for what we have, and Miss deka is going to be adding some soon. There’s a couple of parcel for sale connected to us and hopefully we can get one of those and then see about buying the rest of what will end up being the resulting rectangle. It’s going to take some time, but time we have plenty of.

A friend of ours mentioned to Miss deka recently that I was worried I was losing her. She checked in with me about that today and I assured her that nothing could be further from the truth. I need to check in with our friend and let him know that. I think he may be thinking of the time when I was, seriously worried that I was losing Miss, hell I thought that I had lost her. That’s all water long under the bridge and as I’ve mentioned (okay, gushed) recently, I’m here for the long haul.

I mainly bring that up because of a comment Miss made when we were talking about what to call our combined shop. She said “Well i think we arent separating for a long long time” and my heart skipped a beat or two. My reply was “Not if I have anything to say about it”. I know that we’re firmly committed to each other, I know that I’m her’s for as long as I can imagine, it just feels so good to be reminded that she feels the same way. Oh, the name she came up with? “DC Designs”. I love it.

So I’ve moved my shop and now I’m doing something that I never thought I would do. I’m selling my little 512 parcel. The little piece of mainland that was always my refuge, the one place I knew that I could call home no matter what. I don’t need it anymore. My refuge is with my Miss. My home is where she is. That parcel was a nice fallback when things didn’t work out between Enigma and I. It was home for a while after Wednesdai released me. I don’t need a fallback anymore, Miss deka is my fallback.

I’ll close with the warm and fuzzy feeling I got this evening as Miss deka curled up for sleep, idling in SL locked in, just as I am. She’s about 10 feet away from me right now, curled up in the cage Wednesdai got me when she first collared me. I’ve written at length about how much that cage means to me, it is the truest home I have in SL. I told Miss how sweet it was to see her sleeping there, how it makes me smile. In a way, it is her claiming ever part of me, she owns every part of my being, including my true home. When she told me she was “stealing” the cage for tonight I melted. Contrast that to how I would have felt if Enigma had done so. I’d have feel put out at the least. Not so with Miss deka. I’m having difficulty finding the words to describe how it touches me. A picture will have to suffice.

A mostly quiet day yesterday, well, quiet in SL anyway. My daughter has been raising holy hell for a couple of weeks now and it’s really starting to get to me, sigh.

Had a nice quiet early evening at Regg and Tara’s place, in panther form with Re in her new Snow Leopard. I’m learning a lot from just watching how Tara, Re and others interact. I’m realising that I spend an awful lot of the time just sitting or laying down observing what’s going on, not necessarily initiating a lot. Sure, I participate in the banter and the general tom-foolery, but otherwise I’m pretty much laid back. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying its a bad thing, but I’m definitely pondering whether it’s effective for me or not…

Miss deka came on around 8:00 which certainly brightened up my day. We spent most of the rest of the evening at home, she curled up with Damon, me curled up at her feet, all of us playing Greedy. Once again, I was content just to be in the same room with Miss, curled up before the fire at her feet. A wonderful image for me.

Maybe it’s everything that’s going on in RL that has me second guessing myself a bit at every turn. I need to keep foremost in my head that if there’s an issue, big or little, Miss will let me know. If I’m not initiating enough, or if I seem wooden in my responses to her, I need to trust that she’ll help me become better. Meanwhile I’m just happy to spend time, any time, in her presence.

She definitely picked a form for me that helps push me a little in the direction of initiating stuff more today, when I went to bed last night she instructed me to change into puppy form this morning. The very first time I put on puppy gear I felt much more hyper than usual, there’s something about it that just makes you want to race around sniffing everything, searching out treats and pets from everyone nearby, before flopping down for a quick nap…

I couldn’t decide what if any clothing to wear with the puppy gear (I think I was mostly nude last time). When I went to put on a catsuit I discovered that some piece of it was preventing me from putting on clothing. I started to strip it off so I could put on the catsuit but then changed my mind. A naked puppy am I. Well, mostly naked…

That’s me.

Miss deka was online most of the day today. She got in shortly after noon and I just went to bed a little later than usual (10:30). What a wonderful day. The first thing was a slight panic on my part making sure the new castle was ready for her. I put up a few pictures and such, then relaxed in the hot tub on the roof to work on some scripting.

When Miss came online I discovered that my wind-up key had unwound so a quick panicked IM to Tara brought her over to save me while Miss was changing and before she teleported to where I was. Fortunately everything went off perfectly, and Miss really likes our new home. I was really nervous that she wouldn’t like it, or that she’d not like the idea of the sub acquiring the home, or something silly like that. Let’s face it, I was just plain nervous with the “Will she like it? Won’t she like it? Oh god, what will she say?”… All was fine, and we have a new home.

One of the things Miss had talked about shortly before she had to be away was getting me a new skin. She wanted to make some slight changes to my look. Since then she hadn’t mentioned it again, RL kinda swamped that, and the few times she was able to get in were so brief that no time was wasted on anything as basic as shopping (fun though that is). First thing she did today after getting the tour of the house was to take us to get me a new skin! I don’t have any pictures yet, but the change is really quite good. I still look like me, but less fem than I did before. I really like what she picked out. After that we went to one of her favorite clothing stores and picked out an outfit for each other. She looks stunning in the outfit I picked for her and I think I look great in the one she picked for me.

From there we spent a few hours at Regg and Tara’s place to play greedy. Well, Regg, Tara and Miss played without my participation for the first while, I was too busy basking in Miss’s presence and just plain drinking her in. We were lounging on one of Regg’s couches, her laying on my chest and me in 1st person view (aka mouselook) just drawn in.

I got a few pictures which Tara is looking over to see what she can do with them, and she got one stunning picture which is now hanging over the mantle of our fireplace. I’ll make you wait until the end of the post to see it, just to build the anticipation a bit.

After that it was back home to play some more greedy, Damon joined us as did Tara and we just wiled away the evening, yacking, playing Greedy, yacking… Miss finally sent me to bed, after first changing into my Panther form (which I haven’t spent very much time in at all) and now I’m all curled up in my basket, dreaming happy dreams. Momentarily to be curled up in RL, dreaming happy dreams.

What a marvelous day.
