Yesterday I pushed out updates to Chat Enhancer and Ultimate Titler. Two main things with these:
Miss Tara pointed out the other day that using OOC to talk is an effective way to cheat a gag/bit (I was in pony tack at the time). I hadn’t realised it up until then, but she was definitely right. I was using it from time to time to say things that I couldn’t say because of my bit. Considering that one of the goals of Chat Enhancer was to not allow cheating, this bothered me…
So now, if the deny-ooc command is given, the OOC channel will be shut down any time that chat is denied. A redirect won’t cause this to trigger, since the Chat Enhancer already uses a redirect for “normal” speech. But if a bit or a gag or, well, anything causes chat to be denied then the OOC channel will shut down too meaning that the only option is to emote, as it should be.
Next new feature coming up is in-place updates. I don’t like that I have to take them off if I’m going to adopt the new version. This is especially true now that Miss Tara has locked both (grin). The next major update will change how updates are delivered and how they are applied. The version number will be gone from the name of the objects for one, and updating will consist of rezzing an update box and following the instructions. I’m working hard to make sure that nothing needs to be unlocked in order to update, and that the update process will be as painless as possible.
Delivery of in-place updates will have two immediate results: First, we’ll be moving to 2.00 on both products. Second, the permissions will be changing from copy/notrans to nocopy/trans. You’ll still be able to buy for a friend, but now you’ll be able to give it to them directly. Everyone with a pre-2.00 product will automatically receive (once) a 2.0 copy. The 1.X versions will continue to work, but will only be updated for bug fixes. The second major effect will be allowing plug-ins that can be delivered via update box, as well as updated the same way.
